About Us

 My qualifications include 20+ years in the role of a teacher and assist principal in various public school systems, working with grades Pre-k through 5th. Diversity in those environments provided exposure that was priceless. It allowed me to see that learning happens in a variety of ways. Those tools include using auditory,visual, kinesthetic, and tactile  learning styles to break invisible barriers in the learning environment.

​My experience as a tutor spans over 20 years, beginning during my college days with Upward Bound Students. This program serves high school students that are either low income, first generation college students, or who have a high risk for academic failure. I served as a tutor that assisted students with homework, substitute instructor for Spanish during weekend classes and a summer peer counselor that assisted and nurtured students socially and emotionally during their summer academic sessions on a college campus.

​As a state certified educator, I have a Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education and a Masters degree in School Administration. In addition, I also have experience with serving students in state custody and those who receive services from the mental health community. ​

 I tutor students ages five and up in many subjects including GED prep.  I specialize in working with students that are in the general education setting, being home schooled, have reading challenges, learning disabilities, attention deficit disorders,hyperactivity,emotional-behavior disorders,autistic, and mental health concerns. ​My professional and practical experience allows me to communicate with students in ways that can effectively resonate with their individual needs.

During tutoring sessions I utilize techniques that assist with learning challenges in systematic ways that promote academic, social, and emotional growth.
 

My teaching approach is designed to let your child know that everything that they feel is merited and that it is ok to ask questions about their learning. Learning is facilitated through methods that model procedures and work habits, in order to lay the foundation for academic improvement.

Anxiety for a student can be extremely stressful, so my guidance provides effective methods to alleviate as much stress as possible in the overall learning process. 

Parents and caregivers need a tutor who is capable of producing the most improvement in their children, as well as a tutor who is sensitive to the needs of the student. I begin with an in-depth parent/student consultation to clearly understand the specific needs of the student and exactly what is necessary to create a unique plan for success.
 

 Consulting with parents and organizations is also a passion of mine. Knowledge is to be shared and it allows one to be properly informed in ways that can affect the future.

I encounter parents/care-takers who are their wits end with trying to understand all the jargon used in the educational settings, the paperwork given to them,resources available, and knowing what to ask for to ensure that their student gets their needs met. In these cases, ignorance is NOT bliss, it puts the student at risk to fall through the cracks.

I provide parents/care-takers with information, advocacy in the form of attending meetings with them, and leading them to resources that can help them on their journey to becoming informed in powerful ways.

If you need to consult with me in detail or need me to attend meetings that determine how your student will be educated, I am available.The hourly rate will apply to all consultations that take place,including before and after the agreed upon times that services are provided. Example- before/after tutoring session time slots, phone calls, text messages, and emails.
